Porta Nova
Opened in the 1830s, it is the most recent of the four access gates to the centre of the hamlet, located at the four cardinal points. The construction of this new gate is due to the knight Celso Bargagli Petrucci, whose noble Sienese family owned a palace within the borough, and who in 1886 had their country residence built outside the walls on the property that had previously housed their spinning mill. The building is known today as Villa Rocchi. Porta Nova, like the other gaters, has a religious dedication: Our Lady of Good Council, which is celebrated on 26 April.
